MILAN — From Miracle to Monumental.

The United States has a new men’s hockey team to cherish, after the Americans finally took down Almighty Canada with a 2-1 win in overtime Sunday to capture the country’s third Olympic gold medal — and first in 46 years.

They did it, and they did it in style. This collection of U.S.-born players proved they are the best in the world.

There was nothing miraculous about it. This was the expectation.
