Matthew Stafford won’t get statue outside of SoFi Stadium says former Ram

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 18, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

If the Los Angeles Rams ever decide to immortalize their former players in bronze outside of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, would current quarterback Matthew Stafford be deserving of such an honor?

According to former Rams’ running back Todd Gurley, Stafford probably won’t be getting a statue at the new state-of-the-art stadium anytime soon.

Gurley, speaking to TMZ Sports at the Fanatics party during Super Bowl week, didn’t scoff at Stafford’s résumé. Rather, he questioned the geography. “[The Rams] share the stadium with the Chargers,” Gurley explained, noting that any statue outside the Inglewood palace would open the door for the other tenant to demand equal real estate. From what he’s heard, that’s a line the organization may not want to cross.

Gurley’s solution? Keep it in the family. Plant the legacy at Rams Village in Woodland Hills, where the franchise trains, works and breathes Rams football.

“Maybe one of them down that way,” Gurley said of a potential statue, pointing toward a future where the bronze belongs on Rams soil only.

It’s a compelling argument, even after Stafford’s league-leading 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns this season earned him the NFL MVP trophy. But another Lombardi Trophy would shift this from barbershop debate to architectural planning.

Let’s not forget: SoFi was built by Rams owner Stan Kroenke, even if the Los Angeles Chargers pay rent. If Kroenke ever greenlights statues, Stafford’s name belongs in the same breath as Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Orlando Pace and Cooper Kupp.

What other Rams players do you think would be deserving of a statue and do you agree with Gurley? Let us know in the comments section.
