Genesis Invitational predictions: Back these three golfers at Riviera Country Club

The PGA Tour shifts to Los Angeles with the Genesis Invitational this weekend at Riviera Country Club.

After moving to Torrey Pines in San Diego last year due to nearby wildfires, the tournament is back at its traditional course.

It’s the second straight “Signature Event” week, so it’s not surprising that we have a star-studded field teeing off.

Scottie Scheffler, who finished T-4 after a blistering finish last week in Pebble Beach, is the overwhelming favorite, sitting around +325 to win at most major sportsbooks.

Plenty of other stars, including Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama and last week’s winner, Collin Morikawa, will look to take him down.

Here’s a look at three golfers I’m targeting for this weekend’s action at Riviera Country Club.

Chris Gotterup to win the Genesis Invitational (+3500, BetMGM Sportsbook), to finish top-10 (+275, BetMGM Sportsbook)

Gotterup might be the breakout star of this Tour season.

In four starts, Gotterup has already won twice, taking first at the Sony Open and WM Phoenix Open, without missing a cut.

Gotterup’s hot streak actually dates back to last summer when he finished top-10 five times, including a win at the Scottish Open, from July on.

That’s a long enough stretch to show he just might be the real deal.

And yet, oddsmakers are still pricing Gotterup around the likes of Cameron Young, Harris English and Matt Fitzpatrick.

Those are good golfers in their own right, but Gotterup may just be becoming one of the heavyweights of the sport.

Tony Finau to finish top-10 (+850, FanDuel Sportsbook), top-20 (+360, FanDuel Sportsbook)

After a rough start to the season, this one is based on past performance.

Finau hasn’t been great in 2026, but Riviera is his chance to get back on track.

He has finished runner-up in the Genesis twice, in 2018 and 2021.

Last year, Finau finished T-5, roaring back from a shaky first round 76, although that tournament was played at Torrey Pines after the L.A. fires forced the move south.

There are signs Finau may be figuring it out after missing his first two cuts of the year in January, too, finishing top-20 in two of his last three starts.

Oddsmakers are pricing him as a complete afterthought, so there’s plenty of value here.

Max Homa to finish top-10 (+530, DraftKings Sportsbook) and top-20 (+205, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Homa is a big fan of Riviera Country Club.

Like Finau, 2026 hasn’t been kind to Homa, but he’s arguably been even more successful than Finau at this venue.

Betting on golf?

Homa, a Southern California native, has finished in the top five at Riviera three times and top-20 two more times in six career starts.

Notably, Homa beat out Finau in a playoff in the Genesis Invitational in 2021, which was one of six wins in his PGA Tour career.

This makes two Tour veterans I’m betting on turning it around this week.
