Florida GOP rep demands FCC probe of NBC, NFL over Bad Bunny’s halftime show: ‘Grotesque, leftist garbage’

WASHINGTON — A Florida Republican is demanding a federal probe into Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny’s “dangerous” and “offensive” Super Bowl halftime show performance over the weekend, The Post has learned.

Rep. Randy Fine accused the rapper of encouraging children to use cocaine and faulted him for dropping F-bombs in Spanish, while calling the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate how NBC Universal and the NFL allowed that “indecent material to be broadcast.”

“What Americans witnessed during the Super Bowl halftime show with Bad Bunny was despicable and never should be allowed to be shown on television again,” Fine told The Post.

“When over 130 million viewers — including children — are subjected to grotesque, leftist garbage, accountability is not optional,” he added. “In America, our laws are not suggestions, and no matter what foreign language you speak, you must comply.”

The Sunshine State Republican pointed to Bad Bunny singing phrases such as “El perico es blanco” and “El tusi es rosita,” which he says refer to white cocaine and pink tusi.

Fine also griped over the “sexually explicit and suggestive lyrics” in Bad Bunny’s performance of “Safaera.”

Under existing FCC rules, obscene, indecent, or profane content is restricted on broadcast television between 6 am and 10 pm.

“Bad Bunny seems to think that since he was performing in a foreign language and encouraging the audience to use the F-word, he can circumvent the FCC regulations and put on a disgusting, inappropriate performance,” Fine wrote in a letter to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.

Fine contended that if an FCC probe determines the NFL and NBC Universal “knowingly allowed this content to air,” the network should be fined, its broadcast license revoked n response.

“Parents should not be forced to expose their children to sexually explicit language, drug glorification, and vulgar content during what is marketed as a family-friendly national event,” Fine added in the letter.

“When a broadcast reaches this scale, the responsibility of the network is absolute. There is no excuse for failure.”

Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, had ignited a firestorm on Sunday with his visually intensive, Spanish-only performance during the Sunday showdown between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

President Trump and other conservatives quickly denounced the splashy show, with the GOP leader decrying it as “one of the worst, EVER” and “an affront to the Greatness of America,” particularly griping over the discography being exclusively in Spanish.

The intense backlash prompted Bad Bunny to wipe his Instagram account.

The Post contacted the FCC, NBC Universal, and the NFL for comment.

Fine previously teased plans to send a letter to the FCC complaining about Bad Bunny’s controversial halftime show performance.
