The first curling gold medal of the 2026 Winter Olympics will be awarded this afternoon as the mixed doubles tournament comes to a close.

American duo Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse punched their ticket to the gold medal game with a thrilling semifinal victory over Italy. Down one point in the eighth and final end, Thiesse scored two game-winning points by pushing a stone just enough to bump one of Italy’s out of the circle.

They’ll face Isabella and Rasmus Wranå, the Swedish sibling duo who upset favorites Great Britain in the semifinals. Dropkin and Thiesse previously defeated the Wranå siblings  8-7 in the round robin stage.
