Eagles Pro-Bowl guard Landon Dickerson’s NFL future in jeopardy at 27 years old

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 6, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

There may be more massive changes coming to the Eagles’ offensive line.

With legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland exiting after a falling out with coach Nick Sirianni, there is now uncertainty surrounding veteran guard Landon Dickerson, according to multiple reports.

The 27-year-old signed a four-year, $84 million extension before the 2024 season that will take him through the next three seasons.

Dickerson in only in his fifth season with the team and has been a mainstay on the offensive line, appearing in at least 14 games in each season.

“Landon Dickerson may be even more of a question mark to me,” Jeff McLane, the Eagles beat writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, said earlier this week on his “unCovering the Birds” podcast while referencing fellow lineman Lane Johnson’s unknown future with the team.

His prowess, plus the overall unit’s strength, has played a large role in the Eagles’ extended run of success, including their Super Bowl 2025 triumph.

Dickerson, though, has battled injuries throughout his career and it seems they are taking their toll on the former Alabama standout, although McLane said on his podcast that Dickerson is “healthy and fine.”

Dickerson underwent a procedure on his right knee before the season and ultimately appeared in 15 regular-season games, plus the postseason loss to the 49ers.

He only missed the team’s “Thursday Night Football” clash against the Giants in Week 6 after suffering an ankle injury the prior week and the Week 18 regular-season finale in which the team sat its starters.

Dickerson told reporters after the Eagles’ season ended with a 23-19 home loss to the 49ers in the playoffs that he played through “a lot” and described this year as “s—tty” in terms of battling injuries compared to previous campaigns.

He also offered a bleak answer about whether he’d make a full recovery, per PHLY Sports.

“If I had that answer, I’d feel a lot better,” Dickerson said, per the outlet.

The Eagles are also dealing with uncertainty regarding star right tackle Johnson, who may consider retiring after 13 sensational seasons.

McLane said Stoutland exiting may affect the right tackle’s decision, but he said he’s leaning toward Johnson suiting up for one final campaign.

“He’s definitely not sure if he’s coming back or not is the impression I get,” McLane said. “And you would think this (Stoutland) would maybe make it a little less likely.

“It could take the Eagles basically showing them how much he means to them for him to be back for another season. And I think he’s kind of earned that right. They would be up s–ts creek without him.”

McLane projected the Eagles will need to reinforce their offensive line in the draft this year with these pair of situations affecting the team’s future.
