Personal styling service says customers who don’t receive compliments on their outfits are eligible for free clothes

It pays nothing to give a compliment — or does it?

A personal styling service says customers who don’t get a compliment on one of their outfits could score free clothes.

Stitch Fix is launching the initiative ahead of National Compliment Day on Jan. 24, saying those who order some clothes from their service between that date and Mar. 31 are eligible.

“As we looked deeper into the connection between style and confidence, we uncovered just how emotional getting dressed has become and how meaningful compliments truly are,” Stitch Fix said in a news release.

Over 65% of the people surveyed by the company claimed a compliment in person makes them feel more confident than receiving a like or a comment on social media.

On top of the confidence boost, receiving a flattering remark can help with productivity. Nearly half of respondents said getting compliments on their outfits make them feel more motivated at work.

If you do not receive a compliment on an item from your Stitch Fix order the first time you wear it during the Offer Period (Jan. 24 – Mar. 31), you may score another order for free.

The company says they’ll send up to $250 in free clothes to 100 people who didn’t get praise for their ensembles.

To enter, simply send an email to [email protected] from the email account associated with your Stitch Fix account with the subject line “Compliments Guaranteed.”

To use Stitch Fix, customers fill out a style quiz about their fashion taste, size and budget, then a human stylist will hand-pick five items — either clothing or accessories — using data and algorithms to help them.

The contents will be put in a “Fix” box to be sent to the client. The client then gets to try on the selections in the comfort of their own home and can buy what they like and send back the rest.
