Trump says ‘Squad’ Rep. Omar should be jailed or deported: ‘MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!’

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 19, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

WASHINGTON — President Trump erupted on far-left “Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar over the weekend — saying she should either be thrown in jail or deported to Somalia.

“Fake ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan [sic] Omar, a constant complainer who hates the USA, should be in jail, or even a worse punishment, sent back to Somalia, considered one of the absolutely worst countries in the World,” the president raged on Truth Social on Sunday.

“She could help to MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump claimed that the radical Democrat from Minnesota “knows everything there is to know” about the rampant welfare fraud scandal roiling her state.

While Omar has not been directly linked to the fraud by prosecutors, who have charged 98 people, she has faced questions about her soaring net worth.

Trump’s late-night dig also peddled unproven accusations that Omar previously married her brother.

Welfare fraud in Minnesota has been estimated to have cost taxpayers more than $1 billion, with a former federal prosecutor who studied the issue claiming it was as much as a mind-boggling $9 billion.

Embattled Democratic Gov. Tim Walz has publicly cast doubt on that estimate and suggested it’s “sensationalism.”

Omar has been a US citizen since 2000 and emigrated to America from Somalia. Trump has repeatedly suggested she should be deported.

Over a roughly one-year period, Omar’s net worth mysteriously grew to as much as $30 million, though precise numbers are not provided in House financial disclosures. If that was the case, it would mark a roughly 3,500% increase relative to 2023.

The sudden surge in wealth came from her husband’s Rose Lake Capital’s value rocketing from close to zero in 2023 to between $5 million and $25 million, according to previous Post reporting.

Additionally, his winery business, which has been subject to fraud accusations, saw its valuation jump to between $1 million and $5 million in 2024.

Now the House Oversight Committee is subpoenaing records from her husband over the extraordinary financial leaps.

“There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years,” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has told The Post. “It’s not possible. It’s not. I’m a money guy. It’s not possible.”

Right-leaning ethics watchdogs have also expressed interest in scrutinizing the sudden jump in the couple’s wealth.

Trump’s attack on Omar came as he also touted his crackdown on illegal immigration in Minnesota.

“ICE is removing some of the most violent criminals in the World from our Country, and bring them back home, where they belong. Why is Minnesota fighting this?” Trump said in a separate post.

“Do they really want murderers and drug dealers to be ensconced in their community? The thugs that are protesting include many highly paid professional agitators and anarchists. Is this really what Minnesota wants?” Trump said.

Minnesota has sued to stop the Trump administration’s ICE surge in the state, where about 3,000 immigration enforcement officers have converged on Minneapolis while the president contemplates a military troop deployment as well.

Omar’s office did not respond to a Post request for comment Monday.
