Josh Allen Breaks Down in Tears Following Buffalo Bills’ Playoffs Loss: ‘I Let My Teammates Down Tonight’

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 18, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Josh Allen struggled to keep his composure while reacting to the Buffalo Bills’ 33-30 NFL playoffs loss to the Denver Broncos on Saturday, January 17.

“It’s extremely difficult,” Allen, 29, admitted with tears in his eyes during a postgame press conference. “I feel like I let my teammates down tonight.”

Allen noticeably struggled during Saturday’s AFC playoff game at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, where the Bills lost in overtime to the Broncos. Allen committed four turnovers in a new career-high for him in the playoffs, reported USA Today. (Bills running back James Cook also fumbled once during the second quarter.)

“It’s been a long season,” a tearful Allen confessed. “I hate how it ended! It’s going to stick with me for a long time.”

Allen went 25-of-39 passing, or 64.1% overall, for 283 yards on the gridiron throughout Saturday’s playoffs showdown.

“We can’t win with five turnovers,” the QB admitted. “Fumbled twice, threw two [interceptions]. When you shoot yourself in the foot like that, you don’t deserve to win football games.”

He went on, “We were battle-tested all year, down two scores at halftime. Come out, sack, fumble, hold them to three [points]. We find ourselves leading that game … if one or two plays go our way, it’s a different story.”

Earlier in the night, the Denver Broncos jumped on the 2016 social media trend by trolling the Bills with a now-viral photo of Allen’s wife, Hailee Steinfeld, that was originally taken a decade ago. The now-ironic photo — which was flashed on the Jumbotron during Saturday’s game at Mile High — featured Steinfeld, 29, wearing Broncos gear when the Denver squad beat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson revealed on Saturday that Allen laughed off the now-viral 2016 photo by saying he “wasn’t going to bring it up at home.”

“Asked Josh about this pic and he told me he had no idea it was floating around,” Wolfson revealed via X. “Laughed and said she was probably paid to be there.”

It has been a whirlwind week for the couple. Steinfeld revealed in her latest “Beau Society” newsletter on Friday, January 17, that she was cheering on Allen’s Buffalo Bills as they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-24, during her prep for the Golden Globes last Sunday.

“The day of the [Golden] Globes, something exciting was on TV that I’m sure you were all watching,” Steinfeld teased. “Kickoff just happened to be at the same time as glam, so I was a little (lot) distracted.”

She credited her glam team with keeping on top of her schedule as she celebrated her husband’s big victory.

“My glam team is incredible at what they do and worked around my constant movement,” the actress wrote in her newsletter. “Andrew [Fitzsimons, my hairstylist] warned me every time an iron was close to my face, so I didn’t accidentally burn myself.”

The pregnant actress later cradled her bump as she walked the Golden Globes red carpet solo in a baby pink gown and Desert diamonds from Reposs at The Beverly Hilton on January 11. (Steinfeld and Allen are expecting their first child.)

Steinfeld also reflected on her experience attending the Globes in her “Beau Society” newsletter by revealing that one highlight was meeting her comedy idol Adam Sandler.

“For context, Adam Sandler is a permanent fixture in our house. We always have one of his movies on,” Steinfeld shared in her newsletter. “So when Adam Sandler waved me down by the entrance to the Globes, and said, ‘Hey, buddy! I loved Sinners! You’re doing amazing. And congrats to Josh!’ I could not wait to tell my husband.”
