Titans quarterback Cam Ward wants to be a part of the team’s coaching search as they look for the right person to take the franchise forward.
The Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start this year, which has only deteriorated to a 1-8 record since with Mike McCoy in charge as interim coach.
Ward now wants to play an active role with president of football operations Chad Brinker and general manager Mike Borgonzi as they look for Callahan’s full-time replacement.
The Titans’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft told reporters Wednesday that he’s already spoken with the team’s two decision makers about what role he can play in the coaching search.
“They know how much I want to be involved. Not even with the scheme part of it, just, as the head coach, who he is on an everyday basis,” Ward said.
He also said that he wants to “meet with all of them” when it comes to potential candidates for the job.
“Every coach who’s going to get the opportunity to come here, I want to meet them and have conversations throughout the whole process with them,” Ward said. “That’s someone I’m going to be here with for that time.”
The rookie quarterback reassured that whoever is hired will have his support, no matter who they are.

ESPN reported that the Titans are searching for a candidate with strong leadership skills and who can establish an identity for the team.
Callahan and Ward had a good working relationship during their brief time together.
Callahan replaced Mike Vrabel, but only lasted parts of two seasons before the organization made the decision to move on.
In 14 games in his first NFL season, Ward has completed 278 passes for 2,638 yards and 11 touchdowns, while also throwing seven interceptions.
