TORONTO — Ryan McMahon has a contractual clause that if he finishes in the top five for MVP this season, he can opt out of his contract following next year.
It seems safe to report McMahon will not be in the top five for National League MVP for his work with the Rockies or in the American League since joining the Yankees in late July.
So — barring another trade — McMahon is a Yankees for $16 million each of the next two seasons.
Is that a positive?
