Influencer Lizzie Kieffer has welcomed a baby months after the death of 12-month-old daughter, Lily.
“Hello world,” Kieffer wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, September 14, alongside an image of the newborn tucked in a blanket.
The physical therapist and her husband, Matt, revealed in March that they were expecting a third child after welcoming daughters Mia and Lily in June 2022 and April 2024, respectively.
One month later, Kieffer shared that Lily died. She explained that the family has “come to learn” that Lily had a “large mass on her brain,” noting that they “could have never known about [it] as she never showed signs.”
“We won’t know more answers with many of these things for months until further testing is done,” Kieffer added, before concluding, “Lilybug, you are our angel. And we know you’ll always be with us. Daddy, Mommy, Mia & new baby love you so damn much and we miss you every single second.”
The caption read, “We are shattered. You taught us more in 1 year than most can in their life, Lily. We feel you with us. And we feel your spirit already in this new baby. You will always, always be a part of us and although the hole will never be filled, speaking your name will sing through our days bringing joy into the moments. You’re our light in this darkness and we know God is holding you in an extra special place. Please keep our family deep in your prayers. We know they work and we feel them and the support. We appreciate it more than you know.”
Kieffer has continued to honor her late daughter, reflecting on her family dynamic in an August post featuring her holding Mia over her growing baby bump.
“1 baby earth side, 1 baby heaven side, 1 baby in between,” Kieffer wrote over the Instagram clip at the time.
She added in the caption, “Closest to heaven that I’ll ever be on this side of life. A unique position to be in. A scenario I could never have imagined would be ours. My third pregnancy, I know what to expect, I’ve been here before. But all of a sudden it’s all new. And no way you could ever prepare. Navigating emotions of so much joy and excitement to meet this new soul who has been chosen for us. But then also the drastic dichotomy of the deepest sadness, grief, ache, right alongside it. My family dynamic forever changed.”
