Sophie Cunningham completed the kind of hat trick you don’t want.
The Fever star revealed on her podcast that she has been fined by the WNBA after all three episodes of her show, since it launched this summer.
“I’m officially 3-for-3 on being fined by the WNBA,” Cunningham told her podcast partner West Wilson during the latest edition of the show.
The Complex journalist was shocked when she said that before he asked what if it was related to her comments on the podcast.
“They didn’t like my comment on Paige Bueckers…I didn’t even say anything bad,” Cunningham responded.
The comments in question were made during an episode that had been released on Aug. 13 about the 2025 first overall pick by the Wings and how the officials were giving her “every frickin’ whistle” during an Aug. 12 game between the Fever and Wings.
“I love Paige to death, don’t get me wrong,” Cunningham said. “I think she’s a hell of a player and would love to play with her one day, but those refs were giving her every frickin’ whistle last night. Like you literally couldn’t touch her. That’s just so annoying to me.”
Cunningham has made her fair share of comments about the officiating in the WNBA recently, which has caused the league to hit her in the wallet.
She had been hit with a fine of $500 for a TikTok post she made in which she appeared to take a shot at WNBA officials as she lip-synched words from the Sabrina Carpenter song “Manchild.’
She was then hit with a $1,500 fine for comments she made during her debut episode of her podcast.
Cunningham suffered a season-ending knee injury on Sunday in a game against the Sun.
She had been averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game prior to the injury.
