Chris Pratt celebrated son Jack’s milestone 13th birthday with a handful of sweet family photos.
“I have a teenager???” Pratt, 46, wrote via his Instagram Story on Sunday, August 17, alongside his heartfelt tribute. “Jack, I can’t believe you are 13 today. I’ve watched you grow into such an incredible young man, and am truly proud of the person you are becoming. I love you! Jesus is King! ❤️✝️.”
Among the pics included in Pratt’s collage was a snap of himself and Jack wearing matching jerseys with their last name on the back. Another photo showed Pratt looking proudly at his son as he fed farm animals, while a third pic featured the father-son duo at a football game.
Pratt shares his eldest son with ex-wife Anna Faris. The actors eloped in 2009 after two years of dating and welcomed Jack in 2012. He was born prematurely and spent several weeks in the NICU.
“He was born at three pounds,” Faris, 48, told GQ in 2014. “And we were told, ‘OK, you need to be prepared for raising a special-needs child.’ And we felt like it was devastating, but it also felt like, you know, ‘We can do this.’”
That same year, Pratt recalled seeing his newborn son with a feeding tube and in an incubator, calling Jack “tough as nails” during an emotional speech at the March of Dimes Celebration of Babies Hollywood Luncheon.
“Our Jack went from a small helpless little squirt to a strong, happy, funny, and vocal boy. … I’ve done all kinds of cool stuff as an actor. I’ve gotten to jump out of helicopters and do daring stunts and play baseball in a professional stadium, but none of them mean anything compared to being somebody’s daddy,” he said at the time.
When Pratt and Faris announced their separation in 2017, Jack was their first priority. “We tried really hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed,” the now-exes noted in a statement. “Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep the situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together.”
The former couple finalized their divorce in 2018. Faris went on to marry Michael Barrett in 2021. Pratt, for his part, tied the knot with Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, welcoming daughters Lyla and Eloise in 2020 and 2022 and son Ford in 2024.
Last month, Pratt opened up about the challenges Schwarzenegger, 35, faced while adjusting to life as a stepparent.
“It’s a tough job. Parenting is a little bit like [motion-capture] acting because, in the end, you don’t end up getting the credit you deserve,” he said during a joint appearance on the “Parenting & You With Dr. Shefali” podcast.
Schwarzenegger went on to reveal that she hired a stepparenting coach to help her with the transition. “Stepparenting, like parenting, has no handbook,” she said. “[And] I have the benefit of being in both roles. Stepparenting is extra confusing because you aren’t a parent, you’re not a nanny, you’re not an assistant. You have responsibilities in all of those areas, but you’re not either of them.”
