Orlando Bloom is in his therapy era following his split from Katy Perry.
The actor, 48, shared quotes from the late psychiatrist Carl Jung via Instagram on Wednesday, July 2, one of which read, “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself.”
Other Jung phrases, which were first posted on the IG account Sapienkind, included: “Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism”; “People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls”; “Thinking is difficult, that’s why most people judge”; and, “Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”
Bloom’s quote carousel also contained Jung’s perspective on the human condition.
“About a third of my cases are suffering from no clinically definable neurosis, but from the senselessness and emptiness of their lives,” said the inventor of analytical psychology, who died in 1961. “This can be defined as the general neurosis of our times.”
The carousel concluded with Jung’s philosophy that “The healthy man does not torture others — generally it is the tortured who turn into torturers.” And, “We are not what happened to us, we are what we choose to become.”
This marks the latest motivational missive from Bloom amid his split from longtime partner Perry.
Earlier this week, The Lord of the Rings star took to Instagram and quoted a positive Buddhist mantra, writing, “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters the most.”
Us Weekly confirmed last month that Bloom and Perry, 40, had called off their engagement after nearly 10 years together.
“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source close to the former couple exclusively told Us at the time. “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
Perry and Bloom got engaged in 2019, and welcomed daughter Daisy Dove the following year. (Bloom also shares 14-year-old son Flynn with ex Miranda Kerr.)
According to the source, the couple’s breakup was “a long time coming” amid growing tension. They had been apart since Perry launched her Lifetimes tour earlier this year.
While Perry tours around the world, Bloom recently attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s star-studded Venetian nuptials.
“They are still very much in touch and coparenting Daisy together,” the insider told Us. “Orlando brought Daisy to meet Katy on tour before heading to the Bezos’ wedding. It’s not messy between them.”
