The roadmap for the Cam Ward era has finally arrived.
On Wednesday, May 14, the Tennessee Titans officially announced their 2025 schedule and a clearer picture of how the No. 1 pick’s season will shake out came into focus.
And, it looks like the NFL isn’t doing him many favors.
A quick glance at the schedule reveals Ward and Co. will face major contenders like the Los Angeles Rams (Sept. 14), Los Angeles Chargers (Nov. 2), Houston Texans (Nov. 16) and AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs (Dec. 21) at their home Nissan Stadium.
While on the road, the Titans match up against the 49ers, Broncos and division rival Texans again.
These tough opponents will be the ultimate test for Ward as well as second-year head coach Brian Callahan. In his first season, Callahan, 40, led the team to a lowly 3-14 record. Although they had some tough losses — ten of their defeats were by ten points or less — the team simply could not capitalize.
“It is embarrassing,” Callahan said via the team’s official website. “…I don’t like the fact that we won three games. It’s not the standard that I set for myself. … It does motivate me. No professional that likes to compete likes to be embarrassed, and there’s feelings of that when you only win three games, and I am determined to not let that happen again.”
In addition to Ward, the team also signed left tackle Dan Moore Jr., offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler, defensive end Dre’mont Jones, wide receiver Van Jefferson and linebacker Cody Barton to shore up the roster and join cornerstones Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley.
With that, all of a sudden, the team’s 2020 AFC Conference Championship run doesn’t seem so long ago.
