These two teams arguably shouldn’t even be First Four teams as they’re rated highly by KenPom, with Xavier ranking 43rd while Texas is 44.
Texas’ 19-15 record doesn’t represent the talent it possesses, but the Longhorns’ quality of competition was elite in the SEC this year.
The Longhorns have wins over ranked Kentucky, Missouri and Texas A&M, but also have losses to the other second-tier SEC teams like Arkansas (twice), Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
Texas allowed teams to shoot 33.3 percent from 3-point range, which is about the middle of the pack, ranking 163rd in the country.
That could be noteworthy against an Xavier sharpshooter, Ryan Conwell, who has been as clutch as anyone in the country this year.
