Despite their celebrity status, Leo Woodall and Meghann Fahy like to keep their romance out of the spotlight.
“We’re very good at keeping it as private as we can,” Woodall, 28, shared in an interview with Elle published on Tuesday, February 4. “To me, that’s the only way. You see public relationships all the time slapped over social media and I can’t imagine that’s any fun.”
The One Day star went on to note that a person’s relationship “should be a safe space,” adding, “So, I think letting people into it is completely counterproductive.”
Woodall’s rare comment about his love life comes three years after he and Fahy, 34, met while filming season 2 of HBO’s The White Lotus. Though Haley Lu Richardson and Theo James played the pair’s love interests on-screen, the actors formed a romantic connection behind the scenes.
Romance rumors began to swirl around the time of the season’s October 2022 premiere. Fahy added fuel to the fire that December, when she included several snaps of Woodall in an Instagram carousel of filming pics. “Sizzley Sicily,” she captioned the post. At the time, Woodall commented on the post with a bomb and seashell emoji.
Fahy played coy when asked whether there was any truth to the dating speculation during a January 2023 appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “I don’t kiss and tell,” she stated. After host Andy Cohen said “it would be delicious” if they were together, she quipped, “For you, I’ll say, ‘Sure.’ No, no, no. I was kidding, just because he wanted me to say it. … We’re friends.”
The pair’s romantic relationship went public in November 2023 after they were photographed kissing under an umbrella during a New York City outing. Fahy, however, stated she could not “confirm or deny” her dating status at the Golden Globes in January 2024. “Suffice it to say Italy was good for me in more than one way,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time.”
Just one month later, Fahy went Instagram official with Woodall by sharing a sweet snap of the pair enjoying a day out. In the post’s comments, Woodall hilariously asked, “Who is he?!”
The two have continued to share rare glimpses into their private life together via social media. “Jolly ol’ time at the Emmys 🕺,” Woodall wrote alongside Instagram snaps of himself at the January 2024 awards ceremony, including a pic of himself with his former costar.
Fahy, for her part, included a photo of her and Woodall’s shadows sharing a kiss on the beach in a New Year’s Instagram post on January 7, which she captioned, “Just making the cut for the last day Larry David says you can say happy new year!!”
Woodall was also tagged in Fahy’s latest Instagram post on Tuesday, which included a video of him trying to hit her with a snowball. “January was wet, Harry Potter or death 🔪,” she wrote alongside the pics and clip.
