A 49ers star rookie was shot in San Francisco on Saturday.
Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest over a Rolex as he was going to a signing event, the San Francisco Police Department said.
There was allegedly a struggle for the gun, after which both Pearsall and the suspect were shot.
The local ABC affiliate reported that the incident took place in the Union Square neighborhood.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed posted on X, confirming the shooting and that the suspect was under arrest.
“SFPD was on scene immediately and an arrest of the shooter was made,” Breed wrote. “My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time. We will provide more updates, including on his condition, as I receive them.”
Pearsall is in stable condition and a suspect is in custody, according to NBC Bay Area.
Both he and the suspect — who was also in stable condition — were at San Francisco General Hospital, per Fox 40.
49ers star Deebo Samuel appeared to offer an update on X shortly after the news broke.
“He’s good. Thank god!!!!” he wrote on X.
Pearsall was a first-round pick in this year’s draft after an impressive college run at Arizona State and Florida, including a 65-catch, 965-yard 2023 season with the Gators.
He battled shoulder and hamstring injuries in training camp and missed all three preseason games.
