South Korean YouTuber Na Dong-hyun has died at age 46 after stating that he was having trouble sleeping.
Dong-hyun was found dead at his home in eastern Seoul on Saturday, September 6, according to multiple local outlets. The Korea Herald reported that a friend claimed Dong-hyun hadn’t shown up for a meeting and was not reachable.
Authorities were dispatched to Dong-hyun’s home in the Gwangjin District around 8:40 a.m. local time, where he was found dead. There was reportedly no suicide note or signs of violence at the scene.
The Korea Times reported that it is believed Dong-hyun died of natural causes, with an autopsy requested to confirm his cause of death. Authorities are investigating whether there was a pre-existing illness, The Chosun Ilbo reported.
His death came days after livestreaming himself playing a game for nearly five hours and 30 minutes. While playing, Dong-hyun reportedly said in the broadcast that he recently attended Seoul Fashion Week.
“I didn’t get much sleep. I think I slept for about three hours,” he said, per The Chosun Ilbo, noting that there were “so many people” at the event.
The YouTuber was reportedly previously married to content creator Lee Chae-won. The former couple were married for eight years before divorcing in 2023, per the Korea Times.
Chae-won and Dong-hyun’s younger sister were reportedly named the chief mourners at the funeral, which was held at the Konkuk University Medical Center’s Funeral Hall.
Dong-hyun amassed more than 1.4 million subscribers on his YouTube account and 80,000 followers on his Instagram account, where he went by the username @BuzzBean11.
Dong-hyun’s most recent Instagram post was uploaded in May, where he shared a series of photos from his time at a YouTube event. The comments section has since been filled with users mourning his death.
“Big brother … May his soul rest in peace,” one user wrote, translated to English, while another added, “It was really fun watching Daedo’s broadcast for 10 years. My grandfather said that he would broadcast even if he stopped, so I knew how long we would grow old together. I’m so sad that I’ll never be able to see Daedo’s voice and face again… I think I’ll never meet a YouTuber like Daedo again. As a fan, I liked it very much. Rest in peace to your tired body of broadcasting.”
