President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday that he’s tapped “The Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett to serve as a top diplomat in the United Kingdom.

“It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom,” Trump posted on his Truth Social media platform.

“With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role.”

The London-born, British American TV producer, created NBC’s hit series “The Apprentice,” which Trump starred as its host for 10 seasons. A winner of 13 Emmy Awards, Burnett has also produced “Survivor,” “Shark Tank,” “The Voice” and other major television shows.

“Mark will work to enhance diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges. Congratulations Mark!” Trump said.

Earlier this month, Trump named billionaire Warren Stevens to serve as the US ambassador to the United Kingdom. No one is currently serving as a US special envoy to the UK.

It was unclear Saturday the special envoy position will require a Senate confirmation.
