The Yankees and Mets are both prioritizing pitching, particularly bullpen help, as the trade deadline approaches, and fortune is in their corners. In quite a rarity, the generous supply may nearly equal the usual demand.

Both buyers and sellers may figure they hold the advantage, which may be why almost everyone is waiting around. So far, only the Mets and Orioles made a deal involving a reliever, the one that sent veteran lefthander Gregory Soto to the Mets.

“It’s going to go down to the wire,” one GM predicts.

There are close to 20 legit back-end relievers being discussed in deals, and one NL scout ranked the top 10 this way: 1. Jhoan Duran, 2. Cade Smith, 3. Dennis Santana, 4. Ryan Helsley, 5. David Bednar, 6. Pierce Johnson, 7. Kyle Finnegan, 8. Phil Maton, 9. Raisel Iglesias, 10. Griffin Jax.
