A Yankee fan put his own disgusting twist on a longstanding ballpark tradition during the home opener Friday afternoon in The Bronx.
After the Marlins’ Owen Caissie launched a solo homer into the front row beyond the right-center field wall in the fifth inning, the lucky fan initially looked content to celebrate after coming down with the souvenir.
That didn’t last long.
With the surrounding crowd quickly getting on him to throw the ball back, the fan eventually caved to the peer pressure and decided to give the Yankee faithful around him what they wanted.
But he didn’t exactly do it in a subtle fashion.
The man climbed up on the drink rail, leaned into the moment, and before throwing the ball back toward the field, appeared to spit on it for a little extra flair.
Then he reared back and uncorked the ball toward home plate, turning a familiar fan move into a far more bizarre spectacle.
The gross scene was yet another highlight in a solid showing in the Bombers’ first game at Yankee Stadium in 2026.
The home run was one of two solo shots Miami hit in the game, but that would be all it would muster in the contest.
Aaron Judge and Ben Rice both homered, powering the Yankees to an 8-2 win to improve to 6-1 on the season.
