The John Cena-Cody Rhodes rematch is finally here.
More than three months after Cena shocked the world with his heel turn and subsequent Undisputed WWE Chamionsip win at WrestleMania, the legendary combatants are set to go head-to-head once again at the first-ever, two-day WWE SummerSlam.
Their high-stakes battle — a “street fight” with no rules orchestrated in surprising fashion via a sneaky contract add by Rhodes — will take place at East Rutherford, N.J.’s MetLife Stadium on either Saturday, Aug. 2 or Sunday, Aug. 3.
Should Cena win, he may retire as the Undisputed WWE Champion and become the “Last Real Champion.” A Rhodes victory ensures the title continues to exist within the sport.
Clearly a lot is on the line.
Yet, that’s far from all the exciting action scheduled for the early August weekend in the Meadowlands.
Joining Cena and Rhodes on the card are Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill duking it out for the WWE Women’s Championship, Gunther vs. CM Punk in a World Heavyweight Championship fight and Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky in the Women’s World Championship.
That’s not to mention Randy Orton and Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.
Or that Cardi B is hosting.
