LONDON — The Jets traveled across the Atlantic Ocean, but they still could not escape the stench of their 2025 season.

The Jets brought their special brand of bad football along with them to the United Kingdom and found a way to lose an ugly 13-11 game to the Broncos. The Jets are now 0-6 for the first time since 2020 and coach Aaron Glenn is the first Jets coach to begin his career with six straight losses.

A week after the Jets defense looked horrible, it was the offense’s turn. The Jets got nothing going and failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season.

Quarterback Justin Fields held onto the ball too long repeatedly and was sacked nine times, and the Jets went nearly 28 minutes of game time without a first down to start. The Jets had minus-10 passing yards in the game.

The Jets got the ball with a chance to kick the game-winning field goal but failed to get close enough. They got the ball at their own 43 with 2:23 left. They moved it to the Broncos 44 but Talanoa Hufanga broke up a third-down pass to Garrett Wilson. On fourth-and-8, Fields was sacked and the game was over.

The Broncos took the lead after forcing a Jets punt on fourth-and-1 with 10:23 left in the game. On third-and-8, Broncos quarterback Bo Nix hit Marvin Mims for a 26-yard gain. Denver drove to the 9 but got no further as the Jets defense, which had a good game, held. Wil Lutz hit a 27-yard field goal with 5:06 left to play to take a 13-11 lead.

The Jets and Broncos exchanged punts, setting up the Jets final drive.

The Jets offense could not do anything in the first half. They had 32 total yards, two net yards passing and two first downs — and one of those came on a fake punt. It was the fifth straight game where the Jets failed to score a touchdown in the first half.

The offensive no-show came as the defense looked much better than in recent weeks. The Jets actually forced their first takeaway of the season to end Denver’s first drive. Troy Franklin fumbled after Jarvis Brownlee hit him and Andre Cisco recovered it.

That turnover gave the Jets the ball at the Broncos’ 37-yard line but they could not do anything with it and had to settle for a 52-yard Nick Folk field goal.

The Broncos answered with a 57-yard field goal by Lutz to tie the game at 3-3.

The Jets’ first first down did not come until just before the two-minute warning. But big plays by the defense and special teams kept the Jets in the game. Kene Nwangwu had a 72-yard kickoff return to the Denver 24 to start the Jets’ second possession. But the Jets failed to take advantage of the field position again. Folk kicked a 41-yard field goal for a 6-3 lead.

Denver put together a touchdown drive to end the first quarter. The big play was a Nix pass to Evan Engram for an 11-yard gain on fourth-and-5. Nix found Engram again for a 16 yards and then found a wide open Nate Adkins for a 16-yard touchdown and a 10-6 lead. It looked like the Jets had a breakdown in zone coverage and no one covered Adkins.

Despite being dominated by the Broncos, the Jets got the ball back with 3:22 left in the first half and were down just by four points. It felt like they had a great chance to score points before halftime but they showed no urgency. They opened the drive with two runs. They were slow getting to the line. On fourth-and-1, they ran a nice fake punt to Breece Hall, who picked up the first down.

With one minute left, they called another run to Hall, showing a lack of trust in Fields and the passing game. Fields was then sacked on second down and completed a short pass to Josh Reynolds on third down made it fourth-and-1. But instead of going for it, Glenn chose to let the clock run out and go into the locker room.

The Jets opened the third quarter with a better drive than any in the first half. They went 37 yards on 10 plays but still could not reach the end zone. Folk’s third field goal of the day cut the Denver lead to 10-9.

On their next drive, the Jets punted and punter Austin McNamara hit a beauty that was downed a the Broncos 3 by Arian Smtih. That special teams play loomed large. Denver tried to throw deep on first down but guard Quinn Meinerz was called for holding in the end zone against Jets rusher Micheal Clemons, resulting in a safety and an 11-10 Jets lead with 4:56 left in the third quarter.

It looked like the Jets committed their killer turnover of the week at the end of the third quarter when Wilson had the ball knocked out of his hands by Patrick Surtain. It was initially ruled a fumble and the Broncos recovered at the Jets’ 33-yard line, but replay overturned the call and it was ruled an incomplete pass. The Jets ended up punting but it was a huge flip in field position.
