R-Truth will be a litmus test for heel John Cena.
The two are set to have a rare singles match against one another at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24 (8 p.m., NBC), with plenty to learn about where the Undisputed WWE champion’s head is right now.
Throughout this whole heel turn, Cena has railed against the WWE fans for always wanting too much from him or for wavering in their support of him when he started winning too much. His opening promo as a heel was breakup speak, trying to get fans to turn on him and never look back as he seemed ready to put all the goodwill between them in the past.
Truth, however, has been the embodiment of the truest and most loyal Cena fans for years. On several occasions since 2019, he has labeled Cena his childhood hero, even though, at age 53, he is older than the 48-year-old “Peacemaker” star.
