Becoming a parent is a beautiful thing, but at what point is it too much? It seems like some rich and famous men might be starting to go overboard with procreating, expanding their empires with far more than your average 2.5 kids.

Nick Cannon is the obvious example here, right? The guy has no shame, and good for him, but his recent comments about not getting a vasectomy … just aren’t it.

“It is the responsible thing to do. I just, I’m not done,” Cannon said during a March “We Playin’ Spades” podcast appearance.

For those uninformed, the star is already a father of 12 and has publicly admitted to feeling guilty about not spending equal time with all of his kids. “I’m just spread thin,” Cannon confessed during a 2022 appearance on The Checkup with Dr. David Agus. And who can blame him, especially considering he shares them with six different women.

Elon Musk also fits into this criteria. The SpaceX founder has 14 kids with four different women (including three with singer Grimes) and doesn’t seem to have any plans to stop, but there’s not enough room in this column to get into that discussion.

Now, Us loves children, and do your thing — no judgment here — but, seriously, using a public platform to beg women for more kids is really on another level. Newly minted Oscar winner Kieran Culkin, we’re talking about you.

We’d like to preface this with, we love you, and we miss Roman Roy, but using your Academy Awards speech to implore wife Jazz Charton for two more was jarring, to say the least. Yes, this might be in jest, but the continued bit that winning awards in Hollywood equals expanding his family is starting to reach a level of TMI.

Even Hilaria Baldwin is out here exposing her husband, Alec Baldwin, for wanting more kids. They’ve been married for 12 years, already welcomed seven kids — and he’s “always” trying to get her pregnant. The actor himself confessed in a February interview with People that when their kids start to grow up, he tells Hilaria, “Time to have another.” He added, “Don’t judge me,” however, sorry, we are — just a little. Especially because of Hilaria’s reply.

“My body’s really tired,” she stated. (An important reminder: Men. Are. Not. Carrying. These. Children, thank you very much — and we’re never hearing from the ladies.)

What is the reason for this new trend in men? As a society, we’ve moved away from the traditional white picket fence lifestyle, but this is starting to seem like overkill. Just because these stars are wealthy, doesn’t mean they have to flaunt their money with… the ability to have 10-plus kids.

Experts have yet to really weigh in on this topic, but Reddit users are on our side (thank goodness), wondering, “Why are men so desperate to have children?” in an extensive thread that brings up a great point. These stars are expanding their family, but how hands-on are they really? (And remember, these guys don’t have jobs where you clock out at five and make it home for dinner.) That’s another topic for another day, So for now, we’ll leave you with this — maybe bigger isn’t always better.
