The tortured Jets fan base is desperate to believe in Aaron Glenn as much as he believes in himself.

The ones who can still manage to smile through the pain of 14 years without a playoff appearance and 56 years without a Super Bowl championship can only hope and pray that Aaron Glenn can be the one who, against all odds, can bite the kneecaps of the relentlessly cruel football gods who have shown no mercy.

It has become a rite of summer that every new Jets head coach arrives singing the Same Old Song disavowing the Same Old Jets, so you must forgive those long-suffering fans who can’t help but feel trapped in yet another “Groundhog Day” movie that Glenn is not the Same Old Coach.

Bill Belichick lasted an hour. It took three years before Bill Parcells, Glenn’s mentor, decided to walk away before his final reward would be heartaches and tears if he cheated the Man in the Glass.
