Which ‘Ted Lasso’ Stars Are — And Aren’t — Returning for Season 4 After Surprise Renewal?

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 9, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Ted Lasso is coming back for season 4 after seemingly coming to an end — but will every original star return to the show?

The hit Apple TV series, which premiered in 2020, follows an American football coach who moves across the pond to take over a scrappy British soccer team. Fans previously questioned whether the series was over after the planned three-season arc wrapped in 2023.

“This story is done,” creator and star Jason Sudeikis claimed on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast at the time. “It sounds like such a political answer, but it’s the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big old thing.”

Sudeikis mentioned that the Ted Lasso team had “thought about” potential spinoffs after seeing the demand for more episodes.

“Whether it’s [a book], whether it’s doing podcasts about the episodes to offer those audio commentaries … just to talk through things and the themes,” he shared. “And also it would explain the show in a much more cerebral way than I ever would have been able to explain it to anybody. Yeah, there’s opportunities, I think, for spinoffs.”

Sudeikis later surprised fans in March 2025 by revealing on the “New Heights” podcast that season 4 was officially being written. Apple TV announced over the summer that the cast reunited in Kansas City to start filming. A first-look photo offered a glimpse at some — but not all — of the show’s beloved characters.

Keep scrolling to see which Ted Lasso cast members have confirmed they are returning for season 4 — and which haven’t:

Jason Sudeikis

As the titular character, Sudeikis will play a central role in the new season of Ted Lasso.

Hannah Waddingham

Waddingham’s Rebecca is also coming back after the actress previously expressed interest in filming more seasons of the show.

Juno Temple

Temple, who plays Keeley, was seen in Apple TV’s first look as part of the cast returning for season 4.

Jeremy Swift

Swift (a.k.a Leslie) was also in the photo, which showed the group sitting in a corner booth at a restaurant.

Brett Goldstein

A press release confirmed that Goldstein’s character, Roy, is in season 4.

Brendan Hunt

Hunt will be returning after playing Coach Willis in the first three seasons.

Tanya Reynolds

Reynolds is one of several newcomers joining season 4. Details on her character have yet to be released.

Jude Mack

The same goes for Mack, whose casting was announced as season 4 went into production.

Faye Marsay

British actress Marsay is also joining Ted Lasso for season 4, according to a press release.

Rex Hayes

Hayes was mentioned in the press release as well, but nothing else is known yet about their role.

Aisling Sharkey

The new season will also feature Sharkey in a key new role.

Abbie Hern

Hern is set to appear in the fourth season, which picked up production two years after season 3 ended.

Grant Feely

Feely is taking over the role of Ted’s son, Henry, from Gus Turner.

Phil Dunster

Dunster, who played Jamie, will not be a series regular in the upcoming season after joining a new HBO project created by Ted Lasso executive producer Bill Lawrence, causing a scheduling conflict.

Nick Mohammed

Mohammed played Nate in the original three seasons of Ted Lasso but wasn’t confirmed for season 4. He previously hinted at his involvement in the hit Apple show.

Anthony Head

Head’s role as Rupert has yet to be confirmed for season 4.

Toheeb Jimoh

Fans have questions about whether Jimoh’s Sam will appear in the fourth season.

James Lance

Lance wasn’t mentioned in the season 4 press release after previously playing Trent.

Cristo Fernandez

Fan-favorite character Dani Rojas’ future on Ted Lasso is unclear for now.

Kola Bokinni

Bokinni is expected to return as Isaac on season 4.

Billy Harris

Harris’ Colin was a major part of season 3, but his future on Ted Lasso remains unclear.
