The Giants left AT&T Stadium with a loss for the ninth consecutive time, a streak that dates back to 2017. That their 40-37 overtime defeat to the Cowboys was highly entertaining, a back-and-forth affair with six lead changes and 41 points scored in the fourth quarter, drama and excitement did nothing to prevent the Giants from falling to 0-2.

There were highlights galore for the Giants and also lowlights galore from a defense that allowed 478 total yards and caved in for long stretches of the second half.

Heed those words

Remember back to training camp and the preseason, when Brian Burns repeatedly cautioned everyone who would listen about heralding the Giants’ defense — especially their pass rush — as an elite group? Burns often offered some version of: “We haven’t done anything yet.’’
