Neither rain, nor sleet, nor copious amounts of snow can stop the Cotton Bowl.

The game, scheduled to go down at Arlington, TX’s domed AT&T Stadium on Friday, Jan. 10, will take place as planned according to Dallas director of emergency management, Kevin Oden.

“We’re closely monitoring travel conditions into the city, especially as we prepare to host fans and teams for the Cotton Bowl,” Oden said. “Our priority is ensuring safe travel for the teams and their fans visiting Dallas and the metroplex.”

Should you attend despite the icy conditions on the road, you’ll catch a high-stakes College Football semifinal game between No. 5 Texas and No. 8 Ohio State.

Prior to this final four game, Quinn Ewers’ Longhorns eked out a shocking 39-31 double-overtime victory against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The topsy-turvy contest looked like a cakewalk for Texas for the first 3.5 quarters before ASU’s star running back Cam Skattebo threw a 42-yard touchdown. Soon thereafter, a thrilling comeback ensued but the Longhorns prevailed.

In the Rose Bowl, Will Howard and Ohio State stunned No. 1-ranked, undefeated Oregon with a commanding 41-21 win. Howard put on a show tossing for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Running back TreVeyon Henderson and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith spread the wealth and each hit the end zone twice.

Now the only thing separating these two teams from the College Football Playoff Championship is each other.

About the Texas-Ohio State matchup

Over the course of their illustrious histories, the Longhorns and Buckeyes have only gone head-to-head three times. Going into this game, Texas holds a 2-1 advantage over Ohio State.

Most recently, the squads did battle at the Fiesta Bowl in January 2009. Colt McCoy led the Longhorns to a 24-21 victory.

Ahead of the 2025 Cotton Bowl, Texas is ranked No. 5 in the country; pundits put Ohio State at No. 8.

Although they’re ranked below the Longhorns, ESPN claims the Buckeyes have a -5.5 point advantage in the Cotton Bowl.
