23 games into the 2025 regular season, the San Diego Padres are one of baseball’s biggest surprises.

Sporting a 16-7 record — which has the team tied with the high-spending Dodgers and Mets for the MLB’s highest winning percentage — Mike Shildt’s squad is firing on all cylinders having won series against the Braves, Guardians and Cubs.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is tearing the hide off the ball batting .349 with eight home runs and 17 RBI. Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts and Luis Arraez are quietly putting together All-Star campaigns. On the hill, starting pitchers Michael King and Nick Pivetta are delivering in a big way while closer Robert Suarez has been lights out.

Plus, who knows what Jackson Merrill’s talent ceiling is? The sky’s the limit for the 22-year-old phenom.

And, while all of the above may hardly come across as a surprise to San Diegans since all of the aforementioned players are some of the best in the game, they’re shocking fans outside of SoCal because the team didn’t spend like crazy over the offseason like their NL West counterparts (cough, cough Dodgers and Diamondbacks, cough, cough).

“Winners find solutions,” Shildt, 56, said. “That’s what we look to do every day and so it’s a club that has a lot of different pieces, can beat you in a lot of different ways.”

If you want to see if the competitive club live, tickets are available for all upcoming home games at PETCO Park.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets for any one home game was $13 including fees on Vivid Seats.

That’s cheaper than a Bud Light at the ballpark (they start at $14.99).

Other games start anywhere from $14 to $112 including fees.

Best of all, we didn’t even mention all the exciting giveaways the Padres have planned for this year.

Should you plan your trip accordingly, you could score a free Tony Gwynn rookie bobblehead (April 29), Fernando Tatis Jr. batflip bobblehead (June 23) or Michael King bobblehead (Aug. 20).

If you bleed Padres burnt orange but aren’t based in America’s Finest City, you can still catch Shildt’s stacked roster at ballparks all over the country these next few months.

To find the away game for you, check out the San Diego Padres’ complete 2025 schedule here.

How to watch the Padres in 2025

Prefer to catch Tatis Jr., Machado, Merrill and co. from the comfort of your own home (or desk at work or bar or wherever you watch games)?

We don’t blame you.

If that’s the case, you can tune into DirecTV (channel 694-3), AT&T U-Verse (channel 781 or 1781), Cox (channel 83), and Spectrum (channel 305 or 443), according to MLB.com.

It’s also likely that high-profile games will be broadcast on ESPN, TBS or Fox — just make sure to check your local listings.

In the event you’re out of the San Diego market and want to see your beloved Padres play ball, your best bet may be MLB.tv.
