Tyrone Taylor was placed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.

The outfielder last appeared in a game Friday for the Mets.

Jared Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Taylor on the roster. 

Jose Siri, who last week began a minor league rehab assignment, still needs to build up playing time before he’s considered for the roster, according to Mendoza.

Siri’s rehab was moved to Syracuse. 


Team officials are leaning toward bringing back Nolan McLean to pitch on normal rest Sunday in Cincinnati to follow Jonah Tong’s second major league start, a night earlier. 

Clay Holmes is the scheduled starter for Wednesday’s series finale against the Tigers, with David Peterson aligned for Friday’s first game in Cincinnati. The Mets are off on Thursday. 

Still unclear are the team’s plans for struggling Kodai Senga. 

Mendoza clarified remarks from a day earlier, when he said Senga and Sean Manaea were “part of the rotation.” Mendoza indicated he meant at that moment. 

According to Mendoza, no decisions have been reached yet on what lies ahead for both. 


Tylor Megill allowed three earned runs over four innings for Syracuse in a potential final rehab start. The right-hander extended to 79 pitches.
