President Trump on Friday celebrated the return of “boxes” taken from his Mar-a-Lago estate during the unprecedented August 2022 FBI search of the property.

“The Department of Justice has just returned the boxes that Deranged Jack Smith made such a big deal about,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, referring to the former special counsel that brought federal criminal charges against him for allegedly stashing classified documents at his Palm Beach, Fla., residence after his presidency.

“They are being brought down to Florida and will someday be part of the Trump Presidential Library,” Trump added. “Justice finally won out.”

Smith’s classified documents case was dismissed in July. The former special counsel later dropped his appeal, as well as the 2022 federal election interference case against Trump, after the president won the 2024 election.

“I did absolutely nothing wrong,” Trump’s post continued. “This was merely an attack on a political opponent that, obviously, did not work well.”

“Justice in our Country will now be restored.”

Ahead of Trump’s post, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung told reporters that the president’s property was being loaded onto Air Force One to take back to Mar-a-Lago, where Trump will be staying this weekend.

FBI agents who searched Trump’s Florida home on Aug. 8, 2022, seized 33 boxes found in an office and a storage room on the property, according to an inventory list released by the Justice Department.

Smith’s team claimed sensitive White House documents were found commingled among newspapers, magazines, clothing, photographs, Christmas ornaments and other personal items inside the containers.

The government argued that the contents of the boxes indicated that they clearly belonged to the president because they contained items “valuable only to Trump.”

Federal prosecutors said the boxes “had no apparent organization whatsoever” but that FBI agents maintained “box-to-box integrity” throughout the investigation.
