Mama knows best!
Donna Kelce may have accidentally let it slip that her son, Travis Kelce, had his sights set on making things official with Taylor Swift.
Just two days before the pair delighted fans around the globe with news of their engagement on Tuesday, Donna described her youngest son’s state of mind — hinting he had tunnel vision.
“I think his mind is settled. That’s about all I can tell you,” she told People Sunday. “I think he feels calm and he feels like he’s on a mission and he knows exactly what he wants.”
Donna, 72, added that she admired how the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, is always “sure of himself.”
“He’s a hard worker. He’s a community person,” she said. “I really think that whatever he does, he puts his whole heart and soul into, and those are the things that I like about him the most.”
Swift and Kelce, both 35, announced their engagement with a joint Instagram post, which was accompanied by a series of romantic photos of his garden proposal.
The 3-time Super Bowl champ sealed the deal with a massive diamond sparkler, estimated to be worth an eye-popping $550,000.
As for how they broke the news to loved ones, Travis’ dad, Ed Kelce, revealed that the lovebirds wasted no time FaceTiming their friends and family moments after the all-important question was popped.
“So at that practice … I got a FaceTime call from them, and as soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know,” he said.
“They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great.”
The proud father said Travis and the “August” hitmaker, both 35, got engaged two weeks ago, with eagle-eyed internet sleuths claiming Kelce proposed hours after their “New Heights” podcast taping.
“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’ … they got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” Ed, 74, told local outlet ABC 5 Cleveland.
The duo kick-started their romance in the summer of 2023 after Kelce publicly took his shot on his “New Heights” podcast, saying he wanted to give Swift his phone number on a friendship bracelet when he saw her perform at her Eras Tour’s Kansas City.
At the time, Kelce revealed his surprise at not being allowed to meet her, though it emerged later that he had not contacted the appropriate people to make it happen.
Swift reflected on her beau’s grand gesture during her recent appearance on the podcast, calling the intention “wild” and “romantic.”
“This dude didn’t get a meet-and-greet and he’s making it everyone’s problem,” she quipped. “That’s what I thought at first.”
