The Cyrus family has weathered many storms, but Trace Cyrus’ connection with sister Miley Cyrus can handle the distance.

Trace, 35, revealed on Friday, January 24, that it’s “been a few months” since he last saw Miley, 32, offering more details during an Instagram Story Q&A.

“[I] was going to go to LA this month but then the fires started,” he told his followers, adding a crying emoji in response to the wildfires that broke out in Los Angeles in early January and destroyed thousands of homes and other structures.

Trace noted that he is “going out to see my family next month for my birthday.” Trace appears to live in Nashville, while Miley resides in California.

Despite their physical distance, Trace reassured his fans that the Hannah Montana alum is doing well as of late.

“She’s thriving. Truly doing better than she’s ever been,” he revealed on Friday, teasing that Miley is “constantly working” and has “big things otw (on the way).”

Trace and Miley are two of six siblings. Their mom, Tish Cyrus, had her eldest daughter, Brandi Cyrus, and son Trace before meeting and marrying Billy Ray Cyrus. Once they tied the knot in 1993, Billy Ray, 63, adopted Brandi, 37, and Trace.

Tish, 57, and Billy Ray went on to welcome Miley, son Braison, 30, and daughter Noah, 25. (Billy Ray also shares son Christopher, 32, with Kristin Luckey, whom he welcomed before Miley.)

Following Tish and Billy Ray’s divorce in April 2022, Trace has stayed close with his sisters and mom.

“I’m sooo proud of the woman you’ve become. You’re constantly improving yourself and inspiring everyone around you including myself,” Trace wrote via Instagram in November 2024, gushing about Miley on her birthday. “You’ve done so much in this life but I know you’re really just getting started!! can’t wait to see what you do in 2025 📈 Let’s make this the best year ever! 🫶🏻 I love you! @mileycyrus.”

While Trace is tight with Miley, he expressed concerns earlier this month for dad Billy Ray.

“Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever,” Trace captioned a photo with Billy Ray via Instagram on Thursday, January 23. “I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.”

He explained that recently, Billy Ray had changed and that Trace and “the girls” are worried about him.

“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years, but you’ve pushed all of us away,” Trace claimed, alleging that the country singer is “not healthy” and people are “noticing it.”

He concluded: “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly, but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.” (Us Weekly has reached out to Billy Ray Cyrus’ team for comment.)

Trace’s emotional post came after Billy Ray performed at the Inaguration on Monday, January 20, to mixed reviews. Billy Ray — who recently got divorced from Firerose after a brief marriage — responded to the criticism, writing via social media, “You just had to be there.”

While Trace’s brother Braison claimed via his Instagram Stories on Friday that Billy Ray is “happy, healthy and ready to make this record,” Trace isn’t buying it. (Braison is producing his dad’s upcoming album.)

“Birds of a feather, flock together,” Trace wrote via social media in response to Braison’s claims about Billy Ray, hinting that Braison might also be struggling.

Trace posted a photo of himself, adding, “This is what healthy looks like. Braison, I can help you too. Damn, man up boys.”
