Tom Pelphrey has plenty to say about his fiancée Kaley Cuoco and her abilities as a mom.
“Yeah, she’s great,” Pelphrey, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, January 9, while attending an All the President’s Men benefit reading for the Stella Adler Foundation at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles.
“Thank god she’s there because we have a little girl, and she’s a daddy’s girl, and I have a hard time saying no to anything,” he continued. “So we need Kaley to lay down the law.”
Cuoco, 40, started dating the Ozark alum in 2022 after her split from Karl Cook after three years of marriage.
“We have the same manager, and we were set up by [her] which is so Hollywood,” Cuoco said in an interview with USA Today of how she and Pelphrey met. “She’s like, ‘Oh my god, I think you guys are perfect for each other.’ We met at the Ozark premiere, and I was standing with Andrea [Pett-Joseph] and Tom walked in, and I heard his voice, and I turned around, and it was like my life was over or just starting. It hit me. It was love at first sight. We were immediately connected. I do feel like I’ve known him my whole life but I wasn’t ready for him. We’re ready to build a life together.”
In 2023, Cuoco and Pelphrey welcomed their daughter, Matilda, with Pelphrey going on to pop the question to The Flight Attendant star in August 2024 after two years of dating.
“Introducing, Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, the new light of our lives! We are overjoyed and grateful for this little miracle 💓,” Cuoco wrote alongside a carousel of photos of the newborn in May 2023, announcing their daughter’s arrival. “Thank you to the doctors, nurses, family and friends who have helped us immensely over the last few days. We are blessed beyond belief.”
In 2024, after a year of motherhood, Cuoco exclusively opened up to Us about life as a parent, telling Us her daughter is “the best thing ever.”
“[I learned] that you’re not important,” she joked with Us at the time after she was asked what her big parenting takeaway was one year in. “Whatever a 1-year-old wants, they want. Don’t take it personally when they want Dada over Mama all day long. Doesn’t mean anything. Don’t take things personally. I learned that very quickly.”
Now, Pelphrey and Cuoco are preparing to celebrate their daughter’s third birthday.
“It’s literally the best part of my life,” the actor told Us of being a father and parenting alongside Cuoco. “Yeah, it rewires you. It just kind of happens. I feel everything’s different — the priorities are different.”
Pelphrey also praised Cuoco’s acting chops, explaining how her abilities as a Hollywood star translate into her role as a mom.
“She’s effortless. It’s effortless,” he explained to Us on Friday. “Her talent, it’s just such a part of who she is. The way she shows up, and she can do things, you know, rolling out of bed that I need to bust my ass for a week to get to.”
