Tiffany Haddish publicly addressed fan confusion over a recent Instagram photo alongside longtime friend Jason Lee and an infant.

Opening up about her personal life while hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, August 19, Haddish, 45, explained the mysterious August 3 post that led many to believe she’d welcomed a baby.

“There is a personal matter I feel must be addressed,” Haddish told the audience during the episode’s opening monologue. (Haddish is currently one of several celebrities filling in for Kimmel, 57, as he takes a summer break.)

She continued, “It made everyone go a little crazy. For some reason, people saw this and thought I had a baby. Even my own relatives were asking.”

The cameras then shifted to Lee, 47, in the studio audience as Haddish spoke to him directly. “The whole world has lost its mind over this beautiful baby,” Haddish said, before teasing, “I went ahead and made it our God baby.”

Confirming that she did not welcome a baby with Lee, Haddish continued, “Jason, the offer is still on the table if you want to make a real baby,” which sparked Jason’s reply, “And I’m still gay.”

Doubling down further, Haddish continued, “I did not have a baby but I am open to it. Wide open to it.”

The actress and comedian, who was married to William Stewart for three years before their marriage ended and she went on to date rapper Common from 2020 to 2021, told Us Weekly in 2021 about former plans to adopt a child. She explained to Us at the time that plans were put on “pause” due to her business picking up, adding that when she was ready to become a mother, she wants to “be able to focus on them.”

Haddish explained, “I want to raise it. I want to raise the child. I want to give the child my knowledge and my love. So I want to finish up a few more things, so that I can really focus. It’s one thing to have a dog and a garden and take care of that. But to have another human being that needs me and that I’m responsible for I want to be present. I want to be all the way present. I don’t want somebody else doing that work.”

In Tuesday’s monologue, she jokingly went through her dream baby daddy list, which included “Marcus from Running Point,” played by Toby Sandeman, Tom Cruise — because “no mission is too impossible for me” — and Brad Pitt, who can “press any of my Benjamin Buttons.”

Haddish wrapped the subject up with a call out for other potential suitors. “If you or someone you know wants to put a baby on me, reach out on social media,” she said.

The Instagram post that started it all, shared by both Haddish and Lee, showed the duo smiling while posing with a baby alongside a caption that read, “Cats out the bag.”
