Comedian Theo Von “randomly” crashed Diego Pavia’s interview, and put his arm around the Vanderbilt quarterback’s mom, Antoinette Padilla.
During a virtual appearance Sunday on Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson’s “Nightcap” podcast, Pavia couldn’t help but laugh when his mom and Von popped up behind him.
“Woah, woah, woah,” Pavia yelled while Von embraced his mom.
Pavia quickly turned the camera and his mother was seen laughing.
Fans had a field day with it online as Von jokingly tried to shoot his shot with Antoinette while on the sidelines of Vanderbilt’s 31-7 win over South Carolina on Sept. 13.
“The way I understand the story is that — maybe just give me a nod if this is OK,” SEC Network sideline reporter Cole Cubelic said while interviewing Von on the sideline during the Week 3 clash.
“Diego Pavia wins this game, he promised you he would set you up with a date with his mom.”
Von nodded his head and said, “Yes, that’s true.”
The comedian added, “My goal is, I would like to marry a nurse one day. I don’t even know if I’d do it. I like being (Pavia’s) friend. I don’t want to end up being like his stepdad or something.”
Von also tweeted a photo of Antoinette with a red heart circled around her picture.
Pavia, who reposted Von’s tweet, replied, “what @TheoVon forgot is, I said it was a deal if and only if he told @tatemcrae to lemme take her on A1 date in Nashville twitter make it happen.”
During his virtual appearance on “Nightcap,” Pavia also invited both Sharpe and Johnson to attend a Vanderbilt game.
“They got more recruits here now,” Von said. “When I first came the first game they had probably six recruits on the sidelines. They had one dude in a wheelchair, he was a recruit. I was like, ‘What is he gonna do?’ They said, ‘We might need him.’ I said, ‘The Lord needs him.’ But today (against Missouri) they had like 150 recruits, man. It’s wild. It’s different.”
The Commodores are coming off of back-to-back wins against LSU and Missouri, boosting their chance to make the College Football Playoff.
Pavia has thrown for 1,698 yards and 15 touchdowns so far this season.
Vanderbilt plays Texas on Saturday.
