We’re approaching Week 3 since Tom Thibodeau was fired and finally the expectation is movement in the coaching search. The Knicks’ attempts to poach coaches were met with firm rejections from opposing teams, although, as The Post reported, Jason Kidd remains a possibility if he can’t procure a contract extension from the Mavericks. 

It’d be messy and Dallas ownership would have to get involved since the front office has no intention of letting him go, but Kidd-to-N.Y. certainly isn’t off the table. Ditto for Chicago’s Billy Donovan — although he seems much closer to an extension than Kidd. According to Hall of Fame writer Marc Stein, Donovan and the Bulls are “in the process” of extending his current deal. Such an agreement would kill the Knicks’ pursuit. A league source said Bulls ownership is adamant about keeping Donovan. 

Meantime, Knicks team president Leon Rose is moving forward with interviewing available candidates, with a source confirming Taylor Jenkins and Mike Brown are among those who are scheduled for this week.
