It’s clear that Bill Belichick wants to put an end to all of the drama concerning girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
During an appearance on NFL analyst Ryan Clark’s “The Pivot” podcast Friday, Belichick, 73, further clarified what exactly Hudson’s role is with North Carolina and gave the reason why she was copied on emails from the football program.
Belichick said that since there was no one running the sports information department for the team, he requested Hudson, 24, to be copied on the emails.
“It would be personal opportunities. It could be a speaking thing, it could be an appearance on this, or talk about this, or somebody wants whatever it happens to be an autograph, or that type of thing,” Belichick told Clark on the podcast. “And so, she’d kind of help organize that for me.
“One of the first things that came out when North Carolina sent me emails saying, ‘These people want to talk to you…’ I sent back an email, ‘Can you please copy Jordon on these requests?’ so she could at least filter through them because there was nobody.
“We didn’t have a sports information guy. Because all emails are shared publicly, that was taken as Jordon’s running the sports information department. And that also led to a narrative, which is just totally — she’s not doing it. I mean, there was nobody to help me sort it out, so I was asking her to do it.”
During the podcast, Belichick also broke down the reasons behind why UNC decided to forego being this year’s subject on “Hard Knocks,” saying that it was simply not a “good fit.”
“The ‘Hard Knocks’ thing, just for the record, ‘Hard Knocks’ is training camp. And we’re not training camp,” Belichick said. “That’s not what we are, the drama of training camp, and who’s going to get cut and all that. We’re a season, and they don’t want that.
“There’s film issues, too. But forget about the film issues. Just say you could straighten all those out. The Hard Knocks just didn’t fit for us. That’s the bottom line.”
Belichick’s comments come just days after he claimed that Hudson had nothing to do with UNC’s football team during a brief interview on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”
“That’s really off to the side, it’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said during the broadcast on Tuesday.
