San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) is highlighting recent workforce data related to human resources and administrative occupations, drawing on information published by national labour market research organisations. Reports from sources including Robert Half indicate continued recruitment activity across HR, customer service and administrative support roles in a range of industries. These findings reflect national employment trends and do not account for regional differences or individual employment outcomes.
For reporting purposes, the State of California identifies certain Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) roles as in-field for graduates of SJVC’s Human Resources Administration programme. These roles include Human Resources Specialists, Administrative Services Managers, Customer Service Representatives, Executive Assistants, Office Clerks, Bookkeeping and Accounting Clerks, and General and Operations Managers. Occupational data for each category is provided by the U.S. Department of Labor using SOC classifications.
Industry workforce reports frequently outline factors affecting HR and administrative staffing, including the increased use of digital workplace systems, evolving recruitment and onboarding practices, and broader changes in how organisations manage people and operations. The data indicates that administrative and HR functions remain embedded across a wide variety of organisational settings.
SJVC’s Human Resources Administration programme is designed to provide education in fundamental HR concepts, administrative processes, communication skills and business office practices. The programme aligns with educational objectives for the field and supports learning across multiple organisational roles. “My mission is to empower every student to turn their skills into opportunities, their training into confidence, and their education into a future they can be proud of,” said Rachel Bowne, Campus Director at San Joaquin Valley College.
Students have shared personal reflections on their academic journey. “I knew I had a higher calling and could assist people in a higher way. Human Resources was a really good direction for me,” said Tierra W., a 2021 Human Resources Administration graduate. “I found SJVC online and saw that they offered an online schedule that met my needs.”
