Sister Wives star Christine Brown kept ex Kody Brown in the dark when it came to her newly released memoir.

“He doesn’t really know anything in there, probably,” Christine, 53, responded to a question about whether Kody was given a heads-up during an interview with Access released on Tuesday, September 2. “Should I have? No, I didn’t. I don’t really talk to Kody that much.”

Christine detailed her life with Kody, 56, in her Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family and Finding Freedom book released on Tuesday. While Christine said she “hit it off immediately” with Kody, the physical aspect of their relationship wasn’t really there.

The couple had a three-month courtship before tying the knot in 1994. Christine kissed Kody for the first time at the altar.

“I remember Kody opening the door and looking at me in my shroud-like dress. I remember realizing he was stressed out on our wedding day,” she wrote. “I remember understating he wasn’t as excited to marry me as I was to marry him.”

She added, “Kody gave me a peck, barely brushing my lips.” She added, “You know how people like to clap after that kiss at the altar? Silence.”

After they exchanged vows, Christine lost her virginity to Kody.

“Looking back, I thought it would be the best night of my life — magic,” Christine recalled. “We stayed in a motel shaped like a castle near Ogden, Utah.”

Christine wrote that the experience “hurt like crazy” and she “cried” during sex.

“It hurt because there was no foreplay. There was no anything,” she added. “It was my very first time after having my very first kiss at the altar, and he was experienced so he should have known.”

Christine explained that she “envisioned handholding, moonlight, gentle touches” when it came to their first night together — and subsequent marriage.

“I imagined feeling beautiful and adored. I imagined a loving acknowledgement of our eternal life together,” she continued. “For the rest of our honeymoon, I was too sore for us to try again.”

Kody was in a polygamous relationship with Christine, along with Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Robyn Brown. He and Christine announced their split in November 2021. Janelle, 56, separated from Kody in December 2022, while he and Meri, 54, called off their relationship in January 2023. He’s still married to Robyn, 46.

Christine, who revealed an addition to painkillers in the book, did not hold back about Robyn in the memoir either. (Kody started courting Robyn while Christine was pregnant with their youngest daughter, Truely.)

“A camera crew followed Kody leaving that day, too. He rushed home to Robyn,” Christine shared in an excerpt from the book last month. “He needed to check in on, I don’t know, the kids [or] her feelings about my labor.”

Kody’s relationship with the three women has been chronicled on TLC’s Sister Wives since 2010, which is gearing up for its 20th season, set to premiere Sunday, September 28, at 10 p.m. ET.
