SimpliSafe Cyber Monday deal among the top affordable home security systems of 2025

Looking for the best affordable home security system that doesn’t rob your wallet every month? Same.

But what does “affordable” really mean here? The system? The setup? The subscription? For me, it’s simple: starter kits around $300 or less, and professional monitoring starting around $30 per month, with no long-term contracts.

I focused on what actually matters on a budget: total cost after the three-month honeymoon period, app stability, cellular or battery backup, and how fast you can add sensors as you learn your blind spots.

SimpliSafe Cyber Monday Deal

Looking for the cheapest way to lock down your place without signing your life away? This Cyber Monday deal is the move.

  • 70% off a new SimpliSafe system when you sign up for professional monitoring
  • Free $199 outdoor security camera stacked on top of the discount
  • Customizable packages, so you only pay for the sensors and gear you actually need
  • Easy DIY setup in minutes, no installer or drilling marathon required
  • No long-term contract – cancel anytime if it’s not for you

Heads up: This Cyber Monday offer ends at midnight. If you’re going to pull the trigger on a budget home-security system, this is the night to do it.

As you shop, skip the long commitments, since all seven of our picks let you cancel anytime and start with a small kit, then expand as needed. Also, check your city’s alarm permit rules — Ring even flags this during signup — and do the cloud-video math because Ring bundles storage in its plans while others charge per camera or store video locally like eufy.

Yes, burglary is down, but why? The FBI reported that U.S. property crime trends from August 2024 to July 2025 show a 12.8% decrease, while a long-running Rutgers study found that homes with alarms are less attractive to intruders, with spillover benefits for nearby blocks.

Add to that SafeHome.org published findings in February 2025, which reported that the adoption of security systems in the U.S. increased from 42% in 2023 to 52% in 2024, while video doorbell adoption rose to 45% in 2024.

Sure, causation may not equal correlation, but I’m happy to hedge my bets when it comes to the safety of my home and my family.

Below are the standouts in a crowded market that loves to scare you into overspending when all you really need is a solid system set up right.

You’ll get the whats, whys, and hows of affordable security, plus plain-English answers to the questions everyone asks.

After using SimpliSafe for nearly 5 years, I can confidently say it offers the most features and the least hassle for the price. The Core plan runs a little over a dollar a day (just over $30 per month) with 24/7 dispatch and built-in cellular, all month-to-month, no subscription tethering you to a plan you don’t end up using or needing.

The equipment is super simple to set up (it actually took me less than an hour for my 1,800 square-foot home), coverage is reliable, and the paths to upgrade are accessible. If you want richer camera features or extras like “Intruder Intervention,” higher tiers exist, but the entry-level Core tier is the value sweet spot and works well for most customers.

  • Monitoring: Starts at $.33 per day for the Standard plan, up to $2.66 per day for the new Pro Plus.
  • Standout: Best overall value, with cellular backup included at the lowest tier.
  • Who it’s for: Anyone who wants trusted monitoring, no contract, and easy install.

If your home is already deep in the Alexa or Ring ecosystem, this is the most seamless pick. Ring now sells pro monitoring as a $10/mo add-on to Ring Home (Standard $9.99 or Premium $19.99), so the cheapest path to pro monitoring is $19.99 per month.

  • Monitoring: $19.99 per month (Standard $9.99 + $10 monitoring add-on).
  • Standout: Best Alexa integration; quick tie-ins with Ring cams and doorbells.
  • Who it’s for: Prime power users, renters, and anyone married to Alexa.

abode remains the DIY system that actually works well with Apple Home (plus Google, Alexa, and a lot of others). Its Pro Plan is $199/year (about $16.58/month) for 24/7 monitoring, and you can also pay month-to-month.

  • Monitoring: $199/yr (≈$16.58/mo) for Pro; cheaper self-monitoring plans are available.
  • Standout: Best HomeKit and smart-home flexibility without contracts.
  • Who it’s for: Renters and tinkerers who want broad device compatibility.

Best Google Nest integration – ADT Self Setup

Prefer Google Nest cams and ADT’s name on the yard sign without a truck roll? ADT Self-Setup starts at $24.99 per month for pro monitoring and plays nicely with Nest in the ADT+ app. No long contract on DIY, and 24-hour base backup is standard.

  • Monitoring: $24.99/mo (DIY only).
  • Standout: Best Nest/Google ecosystem experience with ADT’s pro centers.
  • Who it’s for: Google Home users who want brand-name monitoring and a clean Nest setup.

eufy is famous for local video storage and no required fees. If you do want pro monitoring, eufy Plus is $9.99 per month with 24/7 dispatch. That’s the lowest price we’ve seen for a mainstream monitored option.

  • Monitoring: Optional; $9.99/mo for pro monitoring.
  • Standout: True no-fee daily use, cheapest path to pro if you add it.
  • Who it’s for: Budget hawks who want cameras/sensors that work fine without a subscription.

Cheapest starter kit + pro monitoring bundle – Wyze Home Monitoring

Wyze undercuts almost everyone on hardware and monitoring. The Home Monitoring Service is $9.99 per month or $99 for the year, and the Core Starter Kit routinely sells for close to $100, with several months of monitoring included.

  • Monitoring: $9.99/mo (or $99/yr); pro dispatch via Noonlight.
  • Standout: Lowest up-front cost to get a whole system online.
  • Who it’s for: First-timers and small spaces where price matters most.

Best thermostat-based security – ecobee Smart Security

ecobee turns your smart thermostat into a security hub, and professional monitoring is just $10 per month on the Complete plan. It’s not a traditional keypad/hub system, and it wouldn’t be my first choice, but for apartments or thermostat-centric homes, it’s clever and cheap.

  • Monitoring: $10/mo (Complete plan).
  • Standout: Smartest energy + security bundle at the lowest monitored price.
  • Who it’s for: Condo/apartment dwellers and minimalist setups.

How we chose

We capped “affordable” at under $35 per month for monitoring or a truly useful $0 self-monitor option, favored no-contract DIY systems, prioritized the features people actually search for (cellular or battery backup, smart-home integrations, app control, camera add-ons, and discount-friendly starter kits), and pulled every number from current policy and pricing pages verified November, 2025.

FAQs

  • What’s the cheapest real pro monitoring right now?
    • eufy and Wyze both land at $9.99/mo; ecobee is $10/mo. Ring is $19.99/mo minimum, SimpliSafe is about $23/mo, abode $16.58/mo with annual billing, and ADT Self Setup $24.99/mo.
  • Is professional monitoring worth it?
    • If you want a trained center to request police/fire when you can’t get to the phone, yes. That’s the core difference versus self-monitoring. Rutgers’ research also suggests alarms deter would-be intruders.
  • Do I need cellular backup?
    • Cellular is a nice safety net when Wi-Fi drops. SimpliSafe includes a built-in cellular connection even on the Standard plan. Others offer battery backup and, in some cases, cellular through specific hubs or add-ons.

The bottom line

If you want the best mix of price, reliability, and zero-drama setup, go with SimpliSafe. If you’re deep in Alexa, Ring can work for you. Want HomeKit and a generous smart-home sandbox? Choose abode. Need the lowest ongoing bill or want to avoid fees entirely? eufy or Wyze will keep your costs down, while ecobee is a clever thermostat-centric twist. ADT Self Setup is the comfort-food choice for Google/Nest fans who still want the name recognition of ADT watching the house without paying the old-school price.
