Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders injured his oblique while throwing early in Day 1 of joint practices with the Eagles on Wednesday, according to ESPN.
Sanders, who’s having himself an impressive training camp, was held out for the remainder of practice. He was in uniform.
The injury news comes two days Sanders — Cleveland’s 144th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft — received the most reps in practice.
The former Colorado star shined in his preseason debut in a win over the Carolina Panthers Friday, 30-10.
Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdown passes in the first half to wide receiver Kaden Davis.
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that Sanders is in line to start his second preseason game.
If Dillon Gabriel and. Kenny Pickett aren’t available due to hamstring injuries, Sanders is next on the depth chart.
The Browns play the Eagles on Saturday, before closing out the preseason Aug. 23 against the Rams.
Cleveland opens the 2025 campaign at home against the Cincinatti Bengals on Sept. 7.
