Of course the question was asked to Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.

A few months ago, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft was sitting right there, and it was clear Penn State outside linebacker Abdul Carter was going to be a strong consideration at that spot. The Giants already had Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux as edge rushers. The front office needed to know: How would you use Carter in conjunction with the two returning starters?

Bowen thought back on that Thursday before the Giants hit the field for an organized team activity practice in 90-degree heat.

“Yeah, I mean, you got three guys for two spots when you look at it from the outside in,” Bowen said. “It’s a really good problem to have.”
