Seth Lugo will remain in Kansas City for the foreseeable future.

The right-hander and the Royals are finalizing a multi-year contract extension, according to multiple reports on Sunday night.

The new deal is expected to be a deal worth about $46 million over two years and includes a vesting option with Kansas City, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported.

No confirmation has officially come from the club, but the news ends speculation that Lugo could have been moved at the trade deadline, which is quickly approaching this Thursday at 6 p.m.

The former Met had originally signed with Kansas City a three-year, $45 million contract that included a player option after this season, which many people believed Lugo would take advantage of.

However, it became clearer that the Royals wanted to not only keep Lugo through the deadline but extend him to keep him in Kansas City for a while.

As recently as Sunday morning, USA Today reported that the Royals didn’t have much interest in trading Lugo and were looking to ink him to an extension.

Lugo has been one of the Royals’ top starters since he signed with the ballclub as a free agent in 2023 and finished second in American League Cy Young Award voting in 2024.

Lugo has recorded a 3.60 ERA or lower for the past five seasons of his big league career has posted a 2.95 ERA this season in 113 innings pitched.

The Royals right-hander has a 7-5 record in 19 starts and 99 strikeouts to his name.

Kansas City is the third team Lugo has played for in the course of his major league career.

Lugo played seven seasons for the Mets after being selected 34th overall in the 2011 MLB Draft, pitching more than 490 innings before leaving as a free agent and signing with the Padres on Dec. 22, 2022.

After one year in San Diego, he opted out of his contract and signed with the Royals during the winter of 2023.
