After the Yankees finally scored a run to tie the game on Tuesday night in Seattle, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected after arguing a strike call that appeared to be a ball.
With Anthony Volpe on second and one out and the score tied at one apiece, Jasson Dominguez was called out looking on a strike three that appeared to be low.
Dominguez, who is reserved and not known for arguing with officials, threw up his hands in the air and started to argue with the home plate umpire.
That prompted Boone to bolt out of the dugout to save Dominguez, who was headed back to the dugout, from getting ejected and was soon tossed from the game.
Boone got his money’s worth, getting right in the face of the home plate umpire Mark Wegner.
The call came after the Bombers, who were trailing 1-0 in the ninth, tied the game on Anthony Volpe’s check-swing RBI groundout that scored Pablo Reyes as the tying run.
Mariners closer Andres Munoz got Oswald Peraza to ground out to third base for the final out to escape further damage.
Reyes was pinch running for Paul Goldschmidt, who singled and stole a base to start the Yankees’ ninth-inning rally.
Luke Weaver held the Mariners scoreless in the bottom of the inning to force the game into extra innings.
