Jaxon Smith-Njigba has quietly become a star in Seattle.

The second-year receiver is in the top 10 in catches (93), yards through the air (1,089) and targets (126) this season, and that’s after a semi-slow start to the fall.

He’s been on an absolute tear over the past two months, recording at least 70 receiving yards in each of his last seven games and falling short of making that eight straight games by a single yard.

The Ohio State product has replaced some of the production of fellow pass-catcher DK Metcalf, who has had no more than four catches and 66 receiving yards in each of his last five games while dealing with a lingering shoulder issue.

Smith-Njigba will take on a checked-out Bears secondary on Thursday night in Chicago.

Opposing offenses have ripped Chicago to shreds through the air of late, averaging 277.3 yards passing per game over the last six contests.

Just last week, Jared Goff and the Lions went off for 329 yards passing.

Three weeks ago, the injury-riddled 49ers had 321 yards passing.

Betting on the NFL?

Oddsmakers have Smith-Njigba receiving yards over/under at just 69.5, which is a number, as mentioned, he’s been blowing past of late.

With a possible playoff spot on the line for the Seahawks and nothing for the Bears to play for, Thursday could be an offensive explosion for the road team.

The play: Jaxon Smith-Njigba to have more than 69.5 receiving yards (-115, DraftKings Sportsbook)
