CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A year ago, Scottie Scheffler was famously arrested by an overly aggressive Louisville police officer while entering the Valhalla parking lot at dawn to play his second round of the PGA Championship.
Scheffler, accused of assaulting a police officer (which is about as likely as the PGA Tour folding and giving in to LIV Golf) was cuffed, booked and sent to jail before finally being released and arriving to the club 56 minutes before his tee time.
He proceeded to shoot 66 that day — a remarkable performance that impressed Scheffler, who’s so flatline he’s rarely outwardly impressed with anything.
“It was definitely one of my best performances, for sure,’’ Scheffler said afterward, adding, “I feel like my head is still spinning.”
